This Autumn/Winter 2008/09 collection...

...is a mélange of three influences; Northern Pakistan, Vintage, and Futurism.

The main inspiration comes from a native tribe in Northern Pakistan, known as the kalash people who have a rich culture, history, and language and are incandescent. It is this rich heritage that has been the main influence for this collection. This is reflected in the embroidery details, colours, and choice of fabrics.

The vintage influence can be seen in the classic details such as silhouette, colour, fabric and also the embroidery techniques, which are prominent in this collection and add femininity, elegance as well as warmth to the individual designs.

The Futuristic influence is chosen to make this collection distinctive, contemporary and innovative.

These three inspirations have been fused together because each one is exclusive in it’s own way. Blending them together gives a strong sense of heritage and culture but also distinguishably identifies itself with the current competitive fashion market.

The style of the collection has an element of diversity that resonates with the times we live in. It represents cultures mixing in harmony, which is a profound statement today.

Overall this collection creates a strong bridge between past, present and future as well as integrating world wide travelling experiences of the Scottish designer.
